Paul very sadly passed away in 2023, but his distinctive sculptures with their strong shapes and prominent lines, are still produced by his family and remain as popular as ever. Made predominantly from cold-cast metals and marble, as well as foundry bronze, his work perfectly captures and distils the essence of birds in a way that lends itself to small-scale pieces as well as large, heavy sculptures designed for outdoor display.

From an early age birds were a passion, and after studying woodwork at primary school, Paul was inspired to start carving them. Eventually he decided that their delicate features weren’t easily suited to woodcarving, and so he found himself simplifying their forms in a way which was directly fuelled by his simultaneous fascination with Art-Deco design. These bold, flowing shapes translated exceptionally well into bronze and resin casting, resulting in a smooth, tactile finish and a wonderful variety of colour.

Having met his wife, Sarah, who has an artistic background of her own, his personal passion for sculpture would develop over time into a family enterprise based at their studio deep in the Hampshire countryside, and would eventually go on to involve their three children as well.

Over the course of his career Paul attracted attention around the world as well as closer to home, and he personally showcased his work at various prestigious venues and events, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, RHS Rosemoor, Doddington Hall and Gardens, Hidcote Gardens, and the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation competition. His sculptures have also found homes with numerous notable figures, including members of the Royal Family.
